Around the Corner

I’m sometimes surprised by the things I can find within a block of my house, when I actually go out and roam about a bit. Especially when I go in directions I have no real reason to go to, I find out that there’s a whole new world less than a block away from me.

Like this blue gate. Isn’t it cool? I love the giant round knob in the middle.

And this bitchin’ fire hydrant, which was made in San Francisco back in the days when they used to make something in San Francisco other than hipsters.

Let me assure you that no more mail is relayed here.

Closer to home, I found that Mr. Bell has started colonizing The New Chair, so apparently he has gotten over his fear of it, though no one else has. I’m mainly posting this picture for the amusement of Baxt and Petey, incidentally. (I seem to recall someone asking about his ears at some point: for readers who are not familiar with the Mr. Bell story, he had squamous cell carcinoma on his ears, which required a bilateral pinnectomy.)

This bee decided that it was snack time right as I happened to be walking by, so I managed to grab a shot. This is also more than a block from my house, but I was so pleased with the picture that I am posting it anyway.
