<description>I read an interview with Rowling shortly after I finished book 7.

She's planning to write an "encyclopedia" style companion book to the series, one where she goes into lots and lots of backstory which never made it into the books. She didn't mention Dumbledore's affair in it, but she did go on about Hermione working at the Ministry as a lawyer.

I don't remember what Ginny's career was (if any) and it doesn't really surprise me. We never saw her doing anything in the books besides chasing Harry, not really. She was smart and brave, but not particularly career minded.

If it makes you feel better, Luna is a naturalist, not a wacky as her dad, searching the world for previously uncatalogued species of mystical creatures. She did not settle down with Nigel (but they may be 'close friends' still).

What did bother me was that the Ministry's cover was evidently not blown. England (and presumably the world) is still run by a shadow government of elite, hiding their very existence and the true nature of reality from the unwashed masses. I find that far more disturbing than whether or not a couple of characters choose to raise families.
